The 8th Annual Critical Commodities Conference, co-hosted by the Port of New Orleans and the American Institute of International Steel, announced a partnership with American Shipper magazine today.

“American Shipper is the premier source for news and market information throughout our industry,” said Port of New Orleans President and CEO Gary LaGrange. “The magazine’s participation in the conference will not only add to its robust discussions, but increase the conference participants’ visibility within the industry.”

American Shipper is a print and online publication, which provides the shipping industry with pertinent news about shippers, service providers, regulatory issues and technology.

The Critical Commodities Conference is a dynamic three-day event focused on the efficient transportation of energy products, steel and other raw materials, food, containerized cargo and more.

“Many challenges currently faced by the shipping community are common across several industries,” said Richard Chriss, Executive Director of the American Institute for International Steel Inc. “The CCC is a highly interactive forum with a diverse group of industry experts and allows for many opportunities to connect with industry representatives in a unique American city.”

Hayes Howard, Publisher and CEO of American Shipper, cited the conference partnership as part of the publication’s mission to help its subscribers achieve success.

“To manage increasingly complex supply chains, American Shipper’s readers tell us the two topics that concern them most these days are risk and technology—both at a global level,” Howard said.

“Adding to the degree of difficulty, management requires this information to be supported by data and statistics that can be difficult to find in global trade and transportation markets. It is the mission of American Shipper to help our audience of 45,000 logistics professions to manage risk and technology. Working with the Critical Commodities Conference is an important part of fulfilling that mission,” Howard added. “We are excited to be working with the Critical Commodities Conference for 2016. Our team of editors will coordinate with the conference committee to build a program that addresses the concerns and needs of international logistics professionals.”

Attendees include barge lines, logistics companies, port authorities, producers, railroads, shippers, shipping lines, terminal operators, truck lines and warehousing companies.

The conference will be held at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott @ the Convention Center, which is housed in a former 19th Century cotton mill in the heart of the vibrant Arts and Warehouse District.
